The Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association (GOGSPA) welcomes Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) of the United States of America (USA) and congratulates it for the triumphant entry to the country’s oil and gas space.

We hope the entry of Exxon Mobil will attract other world majors to Ghana to unearth the country's hydrocarbon potential.

From all indications, the country's three offshore basins of Keta-Accra, Saltpond and Tano and the rich potential within the Voltain basin present a great opportunity for Ghana to position itself as the petroleum hub of West Africa.

With their global pedigree, GOGSPA is of the hope that ExxonMobil’s entry will not only add to the number of international oil companies operating in Ghana, but also display its traits as a world’s major, which would bring its rich experience to bear on the industry in skill transfer and enhance local content and participation.

After a decade of discovery, few challenges came up as the country prepared to welcome existing companies’ quest to build their reserves and prepare for the years ahead.

It is important therefore, together with GOGSPA and the international oil companies to collaborate for common solutions that would address basic issues to enhance social, economic and industrial environment.

We are aware of ExxonMobil's commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion and how the company engages in a wide range of educational programs and recruiting activities that are intended to reach out to a diverse pool of highly qualified employment candidates who are dedicated to integrity, high-quality work and good corporate citizenship.

These traits position you as a good choice for the country’s young oil and gas industry. We at GOGSPA are more than ready to collaborate to ensure successful entry into Ghana.

The industry in Ghana may be considered young but very fast growing and within a decade of oil discovery, there are appreciable levels of Ghanaian companies that have tooled enough to support.

GOGSPA as a critical player within the oil gas space would be more than willing to work with ExxonMobil for a success.

We at GOGSPA wish to assure ExxonMobil that Ghana has an enviable business environment with rich culture that will make the company’s stay one of the best in the world.

We urge you to make conscious efforts to enhance the country’s industry, related laws, local content and participation and support for other stakeholders.

Once again ExxonMobil, Welcome, Akwaaba, Mia woezor!

Nuertey Adzeman,
Executive Director.
